Prevention Experts

Prevention of bullying and other antisocial behaviors requires a long-term concerted effort.  This means school districts need in-house staff to be "prevention experts." K12's Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops are designed to provide administrators and pupil services staff with the tools to conduct their own prevention initiatives.
    

Integrated Strategies

The TOT workshops provide an integrated prevention strategy that includes the following:

• Improving school environments
• Building  relationships with all students
• Teaching and modeling healthy problem solving language

A Leadership Plan

Another major ingredient of K12's TOT workshops is the development of a district-wide or school-wide leadership plan.  Most prevention initiatives fail, not because of weak programs, but because of absent leadership.  We believe there is a number of components to effective prevention leadership, including:

• Creating an effective improvement team
• Data collection and measurement
• Establishing district-wide expectations
• Monitoring progress
